We think you should be able to see exactly how a site makes money without having to guess. Here’s ours.
How this site is funded
Paid business listings. Business owners pay a one-time fee to publish a listing in the directory. This is our main source of revenue.
Display advertising. We show third-party ads, primarily through Google AdSense. We’re paid based on impressions and clicks.
Affiliate links, where used. Some articles may contain affiliate links, meaning we earn a small commission if you buy something after clicking — at no extra cost to you. Where an article contains affiliate links, we say so at the top of that article. If there’s no disclosure at the top, there are no affiliate links in it.
What money does not influence
Article content. We don’t accept payment to write about a company, to review something favourably, or to include a mention. If we recommend something, it’s because we think it’s right, and if we think a service isn’t worth paying for, we say that — including when it’s a service we sell.
Directory ranking. Paying for a listing gets your business published. It does not buy a higher position, a featured slot, or preferential treatment in search results on this site.
Editorial independence from advertisers. We don’t control which specific ads appear on any given page — that’s determined by the ad network. An advertiser appearing here has no relationship with us, no influence over our articles, and no endorsement from us. If you see an ad you believe breaches Google’s policies, tell us and we’ll report it.
About the ads you see
Ads are served by Google and other third-party vendors, and may be personalised based on your browsing history. Our Privacy Policy explains this in detail, including how to opt out of personalised advertising.
We don’t have access to the data advertisers collect through their cookies.
About the businesses listed here
A listing is not an endorsement. We review submissions and reject ones that fail our checks, but we don’t inspect premises, verify licences, or audit the quality of anyone’s work.
Check any business yourself before hiring them. If you have a bad experience with a business listed here, tell us — we can’t arbitrate the dispute, but we can and do remove listings when we substantiate a pattern of complaints.
How our articles are produced
Articles are written from direct experience building directory platforms and reviewing business listings. We use AI tools to help draft and structure them, the way we’d use an editor or a research assistant. Every published article is reviewed, corrected and rewritten by a person who understands the subject, and the judgments in them are ours.
Where we state something as fact, it’s either something we’ve observed directly across many listings or it’s documented by the platform concerned. Where it’s opinion, we say so.
Search platforms change constantly. If you find something outdated or wrong, tell us — we correct articles in place rather than deleting them quietly.
