About Listbookmarking

What this site is for

Listbookmarking is a business directory, and a small library of practical guidance for the people who list on it.

The directory part is straightforward: businesses publish a listing, people searching for that kind of business find it. The second part exists because of something we kept noticing. Businesses would submit a listing, and the listing would be weak — an empty description, no hours, the wrong category — and it wouldn’t perform. Not because the directory failed them, but because nobody had ever explained what a listing is actually supposed to do.

So we started writing that down. The articles on this site all answer some version of one question: why aren’t customers finding my business, and what do I do about it?

That’s the whole remit. If an article doesn’t serve a small business owner trying to get found, it doesn’t get published here.

How we decide what gets listed

We review every submission before it publishes. That review is not a formality.

We accept legitimate businesses that provide a real service to real customers, with a genuine address or service area, and enough information for a visitor to make contact.

We reject listings that exist only to build backlinks, submissions with descriptions copied from another site, businesses we can’t verify exist, and anything in a category we’ve decided not to carry.

We remove listings that turn out to be inaccurate, businesses that have closed, and anything that generates complaints we can substantiate.

All outbound links in directory listings carry the sponsored nofollow attribute. This site is not a link-building service, and treating it as one won’t work.

How we decide what gets published

The articles here are written from direct experience with directory systems and business listings, not assembled from other people’s blog posts.

Where we state something as fact, we’ve either seen it ourselves across many listings or it’s documented by the platform in question. Where something is our opinion or a judgment call, we say so. Where the honest answer is “this won’t help you,” we write that too — including in articles about services we sell. The article on whether a paid directory listing is worth the money reaches “sometimes no,” because sometimes the answer is no.

We use AI tools to help draft and structure, in the same way we’d use an editor. Everything published is reviewed, corrected, and rewritten by a person who knows the subject, and the substantive judgments in every article are ours.

If we get something wrong, tell us and we’ll correct it. Corrections are made to the article itself rather than quietly deleted.

How the site makes money

Two ways, and we’d rather state them plainly than have you work it out.

Paid listings. Business owners pay a one-time fee to publish a listing. Pricing is on the [pricing page/add listing page].

Advertising. We display third-party ads. We don’t control which specific ads appear, and an ad appearing on this site is not an endorsement.

We don’t accept payment for favourable coverage in articles, and we don’t take money to rank a listing higher.
