The primary World Internet Day was celebrated in 2005. It was made by the Affiliation of Web Clients (AUI), a non-profit organisation that works to advance the utilisation of the web in creating nations. The AUI chose October 29 to celebrate World Web Day since it was on this day in 1969 that the primary message was sent between two computers utilising the ARPANET, the antecedent to the web.
