New Delhi. The petitions filed against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) are to be heard in the Supreme Court today (19 March). 237 petitions have been filed against CAA. Out of the petitions filed, 4 have demanded a ban on the law. The CAA was passed by the Parliament of India on December 11, 2019. The Central Government had issued the notification of implementation of CAA on 11 March 2024. Under this, the way has been cleared for refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to get citizenship.
