The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology established the Telecommunication Engineering Centre in 1991 to help the Department of Telecommunication with the development, implementation, monitoring, and regulation of standards and policies regarding the secure and safe use of new cutting-edge technologies in the telecommunications industry. Based on standards and specifications developed by TEC certifications , the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) provides certain certifications and licenses to equipment used by the telecom industry.
