A patent is a state monopoly right granted to an inventor that prevents him from using the invention commercially for a limited period in exchange for disclosing the invention so that others can benefit from the invention. A patent gives the patent owner the right to prevent others from producing, using, selling, or offering for sale the patented product or process.
