Businesses acting under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) law are soon to bear the burn if unaware of the act’s obligations, and upon failing to perform the duties of a data fiduciary.
The DPDP bill identifies ‘Data Fiduciaries’ as any individual who, either independently or in collaboration with others, establishes the purpose and methods for data processing.
So, to whom does the DPDP bill apply?
The DPDP Act applies to Indian and foreign companies alike, that collect, use, or store personal data, regardless of whether they are registered or incorporated in India.
